The top 5 Bluetooth earbuds you should own

 By: Christian Prevost

Forget your good old inline earbuds, Bluetooth Earbuds are the wave of the future. I have had a lot of hands-on time with a variety of wireless earbuds. Here is the countdown of my top 5 choices based on price, style, battery life, and sound.

  1. Jam Transit Mini Wireless Earbud Headphones

The Jam Transits are a great starter pair of wireless earbuds for the price, offering up to 7 hours of play time on a full charge. The built-in microphone is nice to have for making phone calls or controlling voice functions on your device.  The earbuds have a good bass and volume, but because there is no noise cancelation, the sound quality can be lost from ambient sound. They don’t look too fancy, and they are a little heavier than the others; they give you what you pay for.

They retail for $39.88 but you can pick them up from Walmart.com for. $31.49.

  1. LG Tone Ultra Wireless Headphones

The LG Tone Ultras were some of the most popular wireless earbuds when they arrived on the market.  Having one of the longest battery lives out of all the earbuds on the list with a whopping 10 hours, these buds keep you talking and jamming for a while.  These buds are really comfortable if you don’t mind having something sitting around your neck.  The sound quality on these are a little better than your average pair of $20 dollar inline earbuds.

The retail price of these buds are $99.99, but you can pick these up at amazon.com for $57.97.

  1. JBL Reflect Mini Wireless Sport Headphones

The JBL Reflect Mini is a pair of JBL focused wireless earbuds. You can really tell that JBL kept their better speakers for themselves, and not LG.  Sound-wise these buds are a much bigger improvement over the Tones.  With great bass and volume, these are a great upgrade from the other two choices on the list. Having an 8-hour battery isn’t quite as good as the tones, but with the lightweight design with a comfortable in-ear design, these buds are great. The only downside: no noise isolation, so sounds around you are easily picked up. One cool different feature to these is they reflect when light is shined on them at night for late night runners.

The JBL’s retail for $99.99 dollars, and no stores currently have them on sale.

  1. Beats by Dr. Dre Powerbeats2 Wireless Earbud Headphones

The Beats by Dr. Dre by name alone can sell any pair of headphones, earbuds, and anything else.  These earbuds don’t grab the number 2 spot just for the name, though, these Beats provide a deep bass that out-performs the other three earbuds.  One of my only complaints is when you go from the beats line in earbuds you see that the powerbeats2 don’t reach the volume limit you’ve come to expect from beats. The 6-hour battery life is the shortest out of all these buds, but the power this puts out allows it to out-perform the other buds on the list. It also comes in a large variety of colors, and fits great around your ear and neck.

The Powerbeats2 retail for $199.99 dollars but you can find them on walmart.com for $99.99.

1.JayBird X2 Wireless Earbud Headphones

The X2’s are by far the best wireless earbuds on the market, also having a large variety of colors to choose from as seen above.  They produce some of the sharpest clearest sounding buds out there. My only gripe is I wish they could go a little louder but people have told me they are really loud, which makes me think maybe I just can’t hear. The 8-hour battery makes this the most well- rounded of all the earbuds.  The X2’s hit every point: noise isolation, comfort, sleek design, and sound quality.

The X2’s retail for $179.99, already lower than the beats; walmart.com has them for $131.12.
