Soap, deodorant, and toothbrushes are basic personal hygiene items that for many impoverished families and students are not readily available. Ever increasing income gaps worldwide have made personal hygiene a luxury instead of a basic form of self-care. To combat the gap in basic human necessities a personal care drive is being held to benefit in-need students and families of Delgado Community College’s City Park campus until November 10, 2015.

The toiletry drive is being presented by Delgado’s Single-Stop Program, in partnership with, Ms. Geralyn Morell’s introduction to social welfare class.
Personal hygiene items, full or travel size, and cash donations for the drive are being accepted at the W.I.S.E. Women’s Center in building one room 212 W and at the campus radio station in building 11, both at Delgado Community College’s City Park Campus.

Suggested Items include:

Soap/Body wash
Feminine Care Products
Shaving Supplies
Body Lotion
Dental floss
Hand Sanitizer
Wet Wipes
Cotton Swabs

With the help of the community we can bridge the gap of socioeconomic statuses, and the basic human right, to personal hygiene.
