The Symphony Chorus of New Orleans presents: Singers of United Lands

By Samira Palmer

The Symphony Chorus of New Orleans presents Singers of United Lands (SOUL). Professionally trained singers from Cameroon, Ecuador, Iran and Thailand will come together to create a quartet called Singers of United Lands or SOUL.
Steven Edwards, professor of music at Delgado Community College, is the music director of the Symphony Chorus of New Orleans (SCNO) and joins forces with SOUL every year.
Each year since 2008, Symphony Chorus has brought the quartet to New Orleans. SOUL spends the week performing and teaching children in area schools and colleges, as SCNO’s community outreach. The packed week ends with a joint concert including SOUL singers, Symphony Chorus, and the Delgado Community. Other area schools join in the finale as well: Newman, Lusher, Ursuline and Sacred Heart. The choruses join together in an international feast for the ears with songs from all four countries and the United States. The SOUL quartet will be in New Orleans from March 2-6, ending with a public concert on Friday, March 6.
