Civil Rights Icon, Jesse Jackson, and Former New Orleans Mayor, Marc Morial, are joining Former Councilman, Arnie Fielkow, The National Basketball Retired Players Association, and the Harlem Globetrotters in a basketball clinic Saturday, Feb. 15.

The event will be held at Oliver Bush Playground, 2500 Caffin Ave. in the lower 9th ward.  Starting at Noon, Jackson will have a press conference followed by lunch, which will be provided by McDonalds.

A youth summit will be conducted by Dillard University, and the basketball clinic with NBRPA, PAL and National Urban League will go on until 4 p.m.  All events are free and open to the public on a first-come, first serve basis.  Children who wish to participate will need a parent or guardian with them to sign a waiver form.

The basketball clinic is part of the NBRPA’s signature Full Court Press: Prep for Success program with PAL, and the Urban League that focuses on developing the youth, both on and off the court.  The NBRPA is comprised of former professional basketball players from the NBA, ABA, Harlem Globetrotters, and WNBA.

It is a non-profit organization with a two-pronged mission to assist former players in their transition from the playing court into life after the game, while also positively impacting communities and youth through Basketball.
