All-Star Game Rosters Set; Ready To Roll in Big Easy

By: Anthony Alongi

The rosters for the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star game were filled out yesterday after the reserves for both teams were announced.

Starters for the East team will include Forward Carmelo Anthony, F Paul George, F LeBron James, Guard Kyrie Irving, and Guard Dwayne Wade.

They will match-up against F Kevin Durant, F Blake Griffin, F Kevin Love, G Kobe Bryant, and G Steph Curry.

Eastern Conference reserves include Forward/Center Chris Bosh, C Roy Hibbert, C Joakim Noah, G DeMar DeRozan, G John Wall, G Joe Johnson, and F Paul Millsap.

Western Conference reserves include C Dwight Howard, F LaMarcus Aldridge, F Dirk Nowitzki, G James Harden, G Chris Paul, G Damian Lillard, and G Tony Parker.

Pelicans fans will be disappointed to see that no player was selected from the host city to participate in the event. Anthony Davis was heavily favored to make the team with single game averages of 20.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, and a league-high 3.3 blocks per game. Davis has missed eight games this year due to injury, but many felt his production on the court more than compensated for any missed time.

All-Star Weekend runs from Feb. 14-16 with events including the Sears Shooting Stars competition, Taco Bell Skills Challenge, Foot-Locker Three-Point Contest, and the Sprite Slam Dunk competition.

All-Star weekend will conclude on Sunday Feb. 16 with the 63rd All-Star Game tipping off at 8 pm in the New Orleans Arena. The game will be broadcast nationwide on TNT.
