‘All-Star Festivities’

Looking for something to do the weekend of February 14 – 16?  This year the NBA All-Star game will be held in New Orleans.  It will be the second time the city will host the event.  The last time was in 2008.  The NBA All-Star game is a place for fans to watch their favorite NBA players participate in an “All Star” game in which players were voted in by fans and coaches. The game is not until Sunday though.

On Friday, fans can purchase tickets to watch former NBA players, Hollywood celebrities, and WNBA players in the ‘Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game’ at 6 p.m., at Moreal Convention Center.  Some celebrities participating are comedian and actor Kevin Hart, ”Fruitvale Station” star Michael B. Jordan, ”America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon, and ”E! News” Anchor Terrence Jenkins.  Then at 8 p.m., first year and second year NBA players face-off in the “BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge” in the New Orleans Arena.

On Saturday, a string of events will be held at the New Orleans Arena starring some of the NBA’s premier players all starting at 7:30 pm.  Events include the ‘Sears Shooting Stars’ challenge, ‘Taco Bell Skills Challenge,’ ‘Foot Locker 3-point Contest,’ and ‘Sprite Slam Dunk’ contest. Then on Sunday, the NBA All-Star game will be at 7 p.m.

The NBA Jam Session will be at the Moreal Convention Center all weekend. It’s a place for children and adults to participate in fun games and activities. There will also be autograph sessions from of the NBA’s stars. For a list of autograph attendees go to nba.com/allstar.
